Sprint Announcing Something Big at CTIA?

Some folks are reporting that Sprint is going to announcing something big at CTIA tomorrow. The site phandroid.com puts it this way:

Following on the heels of Verizon’s press conference, Sprint CEO Dan Hesse will be making an announcement that they’re promising will be an industry first. With not a ton of upcoming devices in the pipeline, we’re hoping to learn more in that regard, but again the announcement of services pertaining to their 4G network wouldn’t be a shocker. And both would be best. The Sprint event is perhaps the most set-in-stone yet wait-and-see of all CTIA happenings.

What am I expecting this “industry first” to be? I have no idea, and while I never say never, I’m not expecting anything from HP or Palm. Call it clairvoyance, call it a hunch, or call it blind stubbornness: I just don’t think they’ll make whatever announcements they’re going make this way, at this venue, and at this time. And while I’d like the next webOS device to include something that’s an “industry first,” and think we might very well see such a thing from HP and Palm eventually, I don’t expect to see any such thing this soon.

So, whatever Sprint comes up with, it might be interesting. But I don’t expect it to be running webOS.
