HP Palm’s New Branding

It looks like HP is moving along in their rebranding efforts, at least judging by their Facebook page. Check out the new logo:

Note that things like this can also be transitional, meaning that sometimes logos and such are combined on the way to dropping one or the other at a later date. The concept: over time, people will naturally learn that the one is the same as the other, making for a cleaner break than if one logo was simply dropped.

I’m not sure yet how I feel about the new logo. I miss the orange.

Also: it’s now officially HP webOS 2.0, which was expected.

Update: Ann Finnie, HP PR person extraordinaire, put out what amounts to the new branding format in her Tweet this morning:

Parsing that sentence shows us it’s HP webOS 2.0 and the Palm Pre 2. So, the software is all HP, and the smartphone hardware is all Palm. Makes sense to me.

  1. [...] do miss the orange. I believe Palm branding will remain for some things, but it’s going to take some adjustment seeing HP’s name all over everything [...]
