Apps Still Unavailable on webOS

webOS doesn’t need any salt rubbed in any wounds, really, but I was going over the archives of this site and ran across a post I’d made about some apps that folks were looking for and that aren’t yet available for webOS. The post was originally written on February 23, 2010.

Here’s the list I’d created then:

  1. Shazam
  2. Stanza
  3. Kindle
  4. B&N eReader
  5. Audible
  6. Skype
  7. Dragon Dictation
  8. Epicurious
  9. Mobile
  10. Documents to Go
  12. Google Earth
  13. RedLaser
  14. CNN Mobile
  15. NBA Mobile
  16. MLB At Bat

Of course, none of those apps are available yet today, a full 10 months later. And in fact, that makes sense—development for webOS by all but the hardcore webOS developers and gaming companies essentially stopped at around the time I wrote that post (or maybe a few months later). For some people, some of those apps are pretty important, and so one can’t really blame anyone who’s moved on from webOS to the greener pastures of Android (which is where everyone seems to be going).

Many of those same people might be back on webOS when great hardware is available. But, this list will likely have to be much, much shorter as well.

  1. I would say Netflix is another app that is missing from the phone.

  2. yeah there’s a couple not mentioned. Slingbox, brighthouse networks, iheartradio, all of the bank and credit union apps. There’s many more I love to see but there’s no interest what so ever by those developers….

  1. [...] This post was mentioned on Twitter by Carbon WebOS. Carbon WebOS said: For we know, Skype is coming soon… “@AboutwebOS Apps still missing from #webOS: @HP_PC @Palm” [...]

  2. [...] I’ve subsequently installed all of the apps that I need for work and at home (most of them from this list), and have been working at becoming more familiar with the Android mobile OS. I’ll provide some [...]
